Students must also plan for their career and personal health. They must perform voluntary service in the community. This work is done outside the regular courses and is called Graduation Transitions.

Most courses are worth 4 credits. At least 12 credits from elective courses must be at the grade 12 level.

Students at Zibo 11 will study both English 12 and Communications 12, one of which is required.

Mandarin 12 is an elective, awarded because the student has studied Mandarin at the grade 9 level in China. (Note - A BC "Mandarin 12" credit does not count as a "Mandarin 12" in the Chinese program.).

This gives 8 of the 16 credits required at the Grade 12 level.

Students then choose two more electives at the Grade 12 level. Their choices may be limited by the graduation requirements to do a science 11 or 12, and a mathematics 11 or 12. The courses do not have prerequisites. This means that Physics 12 can be studied without doing Physics 11, for example.

The school is attempting to provide electives that balance students' interests in the sciences or the liberal arts, together with ensuring that the students have a satisfactory level of English language ability.
